We started near the beginning of Ashes Lane, headed in the direction of the Camping and Caravanning Club site. The bluebells in the woods to the right were partially out, but not quite at their best. The gorse, however, was very much out, and a colourful feature along the walk.
The road turns into a track as it goes alongside the C&CC site, before a gate leads into more open land. With Ashes in sight, we took the path to our left through Ashes Coppice. From the woods, we crossed some more fields towards Knott Hill, and finally down to the Crook Road.
Ratherheath Lane took us away from the Crook Road, and we then followed a footpath past Ratherheath Tarn, through Rather Heath woods, and finally back to Ashes Lane.
