The walk started near the Barley Bridge weir in Staveley, following the road towards Scroggs Bridge. Going through an “Access Land” gate and climbing the concrete road up to another gate took us onto Hugill Fell, with the path then winding up to Black Crag, with some great views into Kentmere. There were lots of nice purple heather patches on the walk, however the earlier evening sun had largely vanished, leaving more overcast conditions.
We continued to follow the path, however there were various extremely boggy sections where it was difficult to find places to cross (Bog Lane on the last walk, Boggy Paths on this one!). The path eventually led across to Reston Scar, and then down past Kemp Tarn with views across Staveley. The path then dropped us down to Brow Lane, which we followed back to the start of the walk.
